Optimization of Si Content to Inhibit Inhomogeneous Deformation in Al-Mg-Si Alloy Fabricated via Twin-Roll Casting

Herein, the effects of Si content on microstructure evolution Al-Mg-Si alloys during twin-roll casting (TRC) and subsequent heat treatment were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, emission probe micro analysis, backscatter diffraction, transmission microscopy. The insoluble particles, solute gradient, recrystallization mechanical properties alloy in T4P state analyzed. An inhomogeneous deformation thickness direction TRC strip was observed pre-strain test. A premature local at element barren region (EBR) middle considered to be origin limited properties. By increasing from 0.7 wt% 1.1 wt%, uniformity EBR can effectively improved. stronger work-hardening ability weakens deformation. addition significantly increased number particles treatment. structure with a hard shell soft core reduced negative effect tensile strength uniform elongation 159.44 MPa 18.36% 209.96 29.791%, respectively.
